My kids have been trying to teach me the joys of video production. I decided to try my hand on a demonstration video.

The basic premise is to demonstrate how you can use basic authentication (user name and password) with APEX Users to secure Oracle Application Express REST services weather you are using the older APEX repository or the new ORDS based repository.

Summary

APEX users can be assigned groups which in combination with either APEX REST Privileges or ORDS Roles and Privileges to secure REST endpoints.

Here are a few of the references and callbacks to other great write-ups on the topic:

I am going to split out the demonstration of Schema and Exadata Express into another short video.

P.S. On video production: Making a jump cut short video that does not ramble on for 45 minutes is challenging to plan… or … if you do not plan, editing the thing to death is a real challenge. I have a new found appreciation for well edited videos on YouTube.
